On 1 November, the Korea Ministry of National Defense opened a 24-hour
"cyber operations room" to combat malicious computer viruses and
hacking.  A ministry official said  that the cyber operations room
established an integrated security control system in the headquarters of
the Army, the Navy, the Air Force as well as in the ministry to prepare
for cyber combat.  The cyber operations room will block unauthorized
access to the military's computer network and monitor use by authorized
personnel to prevent espionage or other criminal acts. It will also
block computer viruses, identify weak points in the system and analyze
progress in the effort to create a knowledge-based military. (Source:
