CIOs shift focus from e-government to security

The federal government's chief information officers are less focused on
e-government services because of the national emphasis on information
security and the stability of critical infrastructures, according to a
new study.
Commissioned by the Information Technology Association of America, the
study indicates that CIOs are more focused on database protection and
ensuring the stability of the Internet and the telecommunications
infrastructure than they are on unveiling e-government services.
But federal CIOs also touted e-government and cited the need for
information security to realize the potential of e-government.
