US releases $4m for resumption of INC TV broadcasts
http://www.rnw.nl/realradio/features/html/iraq021216.html
(...) A US State Department official said on 2 April that the US
government has released $4m to enable the INC to re-start Hurriah TV.
Agreement having been reached on accounting and other reforms, the State
Department approved in principle a $7m grant to the INC late last year
to pay for its operations through June 2003. But bureacratic delays
prevented any of the money being released. On 31 March, a group of
senators wrote to President Bush uging him to intervene to speed up the
process, saying "It is critical that the Iraqi opposition be empowered
to speak to the Iraqi people so that they may join us in this important
struggle."

While Americans are still overwhelmingly supportive of President George
W.Bush's decision to got to war with Iraq, a new poll suggests that they
do not believe the United Nations should now be considered irrelevant
because of its refusal to endorse military action.
A poll released on Monday by the University of Maryland's Program on
International Policy Attitudes suggested that 52 per cent of Americans
believe the UN should be in charge of governing post-war Iraq, while
only 30 believed the US should do it. (...)

US tells UN to Butt out
Wednesday, April 02, 2003
http://www.greenpeace.org.nz/news/news_main.asp?PRID=502
An extraordinary communication from the United States to UN
representatives around the world has been leaked to Greenpeace. In it,
the United States warns that the simple act of support for a General
Assembly meeting to discuss the war will be considered "unhelpful and
directed against the United States." They further threaten that invoking
the Uniting for Peace resolution will be "harmful to the UN."
