Call For Papers 
 
Papers and presentations are now being accepted for the 2003 DoD Cyber
Crime Conference event at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, December 8 - 12,
2003. 
Papers and abstracts will be received and reviewed from August 22 -
September 15. 
 
WHAT IS THE CYBER CRIME CONFERENCE?:
 
This will be the third DoD Cyber Crime Conference. This year the
conference is sponsored by the Defense Cyber Crime Center and the Joint
Task Force - Computer Network Operations Law Enforcement
Counterintelligence Center. The DoD Cyber Crime Conference's goal is to
establish a multidisciplinary forum for information sharing, team
building and the development of innovative debate on cyber investigative
and electronic forensic techniques/technologies, and legal concerns. 
 
WHO SHOULD SUBMIT?:

If you are developing practical solutions to problems in cyber crime
investigations and analysis; data retrieval and analysis; legal
problems, issues, or innovations; or problems related to infrastructure
protection; consider submitting a paper. We are looking for papers on
topics including, but not limited to: 

Security Tools, Anti-Virus Software, Malicious Logic, Network Mapping,
Virtual Private Networks, Peer to Peer Applications, Cryptography, Open
Source Analysis, Public Key Management & Digital Signatures, Data
Warehousing, Network Security, Intrusion Detection, Prevention and
Investigation, Information Assurance, Ports and Protocol Policy,
Wireless Security, Electronic Forensics, Research and Development
Methods and Sources, Laboratory Certification, Incident Response
Planning, Law Enforcement Counterintelligence Center, Database, Cyber
Crime Investigative Training, Audio-Video Forensic Capabilities,
Portable Forensics, Investigative Case Studies, Crime Laboratory
Accreditation Program, Legal Issues to Web based Email, Threatening
Email, Monitoring Government Systems and Networks, Monitoring Private
Computers, Charging Computer Crimes, Steganography and Digital
Watermarking, Forensic Tools, Sources of Digital Evidence 
 
Forensic Analytical Methods, Forensics Protocols, Dealing with Storage
Devices, Data mining and Link Analysis. 
 
IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO SUBMIT A PRESENTATION, PLEASE NOTE: 
 
To meet the goals outlined above, the DoD Cyber Crime Conference
Planning Committee requests the following from selected speakers: If you
are selected to speak, your presentation MUST be submitted by November
1st, 2003 or you will be dropped as a speaker and an alternative will be
put in your place. 
 
- If your presentation discusses problems, also present suggested
solutions. If no solutions exist please explain why they are not
possible or practical 
and what you think the impact will be. If you present a solution to a
new problem also explain what the weaknesses to the solution are, as
well as their impact on the problem. 

- In your presentation paper please include a reference to all of the
tools, laws, Websites or publications you refer to in your presentation.
This 
appendix will greatly help attendees who wish to learn more about your
subject, but are not sure where to start. This will be included on the 
conference CD. If you want to present a "101" level course on a new
technology or to introduce a new issue, please label your submission as
such. 
 
- We do not accept product pitches. If your talk is an advertisement for
a new product or service your company is offering, please consider
participating in our exhibition. 
 
- All presentations will be published after the conference. It is the
responsibility of the presenter to clear all copyrighted works with
their respective owners. 
 
SELECTION PROCESS: 
 
Paper Abstracts must be received no later than September 15, 2003. We
will contact you via email with a status report on final selection of
speakers by September 30, 2003. If your paper is not accepted to be
presented, it will still be included on the conference cd provided to
attendees. 
 
LENGTH OF PRESENTATION: 
 
Unless otherwise noted presentations are 30 minutes and 15 minutes for
Q&A.
